Foreign pharmaceutical firms don’t plan to cut Russian operations
ST. PETERSBURG, Jun 15 (PRIME) -- Foreign pharmaceutical companies, the members of the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, have not announced their plans to cease operations in Russia, CEO of the association Vladimir Shipkov told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Thursday.
“We can see no evident signs of ceasing (of operations) like reduction of jobs or the assortment… Nobody has announced any plans to stop their operating activities… and the issues of reduction of the operating activities are not discussed as well,” he said.
“There are 1.5–2 companies that have changed their model of medicines distribution, but it is common practice globally,” he added.
Shipkov said that foreign pharmaceutical companies continue their current clinical research, and some of them consider expansion of such studies.
The association makes effort to maintain the availability of most medicines produced by foreign pharmaceutical companies for Russians, Shipkov also said.
